Executive committee: Carlos Solchaga, Javier Conde, Félix Arranz, Ángela García de Paredes, Juan Miguel Hernández León, José Miguel Iribas, Patxi Mangado, Isabel Tocino y José Tono Martínez.
AIMS OF THE INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS OF ARCHITECTURE AND SOCIETY:
To comply with its mission of encouraging debate on architecture and the city in a social sphere transcending that strictly connected to architectural work.
To investigate the interdisciplinary relations of architecture with other fields of study and creation.
To promote Spain’s brand image as a country that transmits knowledge and effects communication.
To generate innovation in the application of technology to new industrial, constructional, environmental, and habitability-related solutions that affect urban planning and life in the city.
To serve society through discussions about efficient architecture.
In line with this the Foundation holds its first International Congress of Architecture and Society in 2010, with Architecture and Economy as underlying main theme and architecture more for less as specific title.
Institutional framework: The Congress falls under the Program of Contents and Meetings and other Events of the Spanish EU Presidency (January-June 2010).
What the international Congress can give you:
• High visibility among highly qualified prescribers and the chance to make an impact both locally and internationally.
• The opportunity to commit to a project that advocates a well-built society.
• The experience of spending three days in Spain with some of the world’s leading architects (including four Pritzker Prize winners) and figures of economic and social thought.
• A first-class business forum: The congress will be a gathering of architects, industrialists, and business people sensitized to the challenges of architecture.
• Corporate Social Responsibility: a corporate image of commitment and solidarity, but also alignment with the avant-garde of innovation.
• Participation in a dialogue of different sectors: corporate, cultural, scientific, social, political, and syndical.
• Participation, moreover, in what is sure to be also an excellent venue for other interesting social events and parallel gatherings.
• The opportunity to link up with a foundation whose range of seminars and activities makes it Spain’s primary think tank of architecture and society in the broadest sense.
